WWF Greece employs environmentalists, biologists, foresters, agronomists, ichthyologists, but also economists, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, lawyers, civil scientists, communicators, graphic designers, web designers, computer technicians, field technicians. In short, a mosaic of all the specialties necessary to complete such a demanding mission.

The Board of WWF Greece
- It has up to 15 members and bears the ultimate responsibility for all decisions and actions of the organization.
- Its members have a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal for another 3 years, while the new members are proposed and elected by the existing ones.

The CEO is overall responsible for the administration and operation of the organization.
In addition to the CEO, there is the leadership team, that consists of the heads of the departments of the organization and is responsible for the overall coordination of its work and the solution of any problems that arise.
Dimitris Karavellas has worked in various positions and roles in WWF for more than twenty-five years.
He has been involved in addressing key policy issues related to natural resources, the conservation and protection of endangered species and important habitats, climate change and sustainable development at national, regional and global levels.
He is the CEO of WWF Greece, and also the president of WWF Marine Mediterranean Initiative, a collective effort by WWF International Network to conserve marine and coastal ecosystems and promote a sustainable "blue economy" in the region. He is also a member of the SDSN Leadership Council of Greece.
He holds a BSc. in Marine Biology from Queen Mary University of London and a MSc. in Fisheries Biology and Management from Bangor University. He is the CEO of WWF Greece since 1998.
Tina Markou: people & culture manager
Tina was born in Athens.
She studied Business Adminstration & Management (Athens University of Economics and Business), with postgraduate studies in Environment and Resource Management (Free University of Amsterdam).
She joined the WWF team in October 2018 as a Programme Administrative Associate.
In her free time she is involved in classical dance, gardening and goes to the cinema.
Mary Koroneou: personal assistant to the CEO
Mary was born in Athens. She has studied Business Administration in Athens. She joined WWF Greece team in July 1997 as α Reception Secretary. Today, she is the Personal Assistant to the CEO.
In her free time she is engaged in gardening, flower arranging and cooking.
The nature conservation department consists essentially of the people who carry out all the work of the organization. The nature protection department is divided into the following areas:

Panagiota Marangou: head of environmental protection programmes
Panagiota was born in Athens.
She studied Biology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), with a PhD in comparative reptile ecology (University of Patras).
She joined the WWF Greece team in July 1997 as Wetland Program Manager and has since worked in various positions with an emphasis mainly on natural environment management. Today she is head of the conservation department.
In her free time she reads literature, exercises and tries to keep in touch with her first research love, reptiles.
Theodota Nantsou: head of environmental policy
She was born in Athens and studied philosophy, with a postgraduate degree in environmental ethics (University of Lancaster, UK), and is currently also studying public administration.
From 1991 she started to cooperate voluntarily with the "newborn" then WWF office in Greece. Since 2005 she has been the head of the environmental policy department. She is also chair of the WWF European Policy Office strategic team.
She has two sons, with whom she enjoys reading, walks on the beach and cinema.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Yorgos Melissourgos: biodiversity and spatial planning policy officer
Yorgos was born in Athens.
He studied architecture and planning (AUTh), with postgraduate studies in regional and urban planning (LSE) and a doctorate in human geography (Harokopio University).
He joined the WWF Greece team in January 2019 as project manager for the LIFE-IP 4 NATURA project, a responsibility he still retains.
In his free time he cooks, reads and plays music.
NATURAL ENVIRONMENT POLICY
Eva Kallivoka: training and participatory actions for the natural environment
Eva was born in Patras.
She is a graduate of Biology (University of Patras) with postgraduate studies in natural resource management (Imperial College).
She joined the WWF Greece team in April 2018 as head of participatory actions and training.
In her free time she reads, cooks and listens to music.
Vasiliki Orfanou: iconic Species program coordination associate
Vasiliki was born in Patras.
She is a graduate of Biology (University of Patras), and holds two Master's degrees in Biodiversity Conservation and Management (Oxford University) and in Education Studies (University of Patras).
She joined WWF Greece in July 2018 as a Capacity building & participatory actions associate for the natural environment.
In her free time she likes to read, to spend time with her loved ones, and to "DIY".
LEGAL SECTOR
Anna Vafiadou: legal sector leader
Anna was born in Athens.
She is a graduate of the Law School (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and holds a master's degree in Environmental Law (Master 2-Droit de l’environnement, des territoires et des risques, Université de Strasbourg). She has been practicing law in Athens since 2015.
She joined the WWF Greece team in December 2016 as a Legal Associate and Coordinator of the WWF Hellas Voluntary Legal Support Group (Policy Department).
In her free time she watches movies and theatrical performances, travels and does mountaineering.
George Hasiotis: legal advisor
George was born in Athens.
He is a graduate of the Physics Department of Imperial College and the Law School of Athens, and holds an LL.M. (Harvard Law School).
He has worked for the WWF since 2008, and is currently the legal action coordinator. He enjoys reading, running, music and mountaineering.
Andriana Delegkou: legal associate
Andriana was born in Patras, Greece.
She graduated from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and holds two master’s degrees, in Environmental Law (Public Law - Public Policies, UoA) and in Law and Management of Energy and Sustainable Development (Master 2 - Droit et gestion des énergies et du développement durable, Université de Strasbourg). She has also been a member of the Patras Bar Association since 2019.
She joined the WWF Greece team in January 2023 as a legal associate, after having completed a three-month internship in the legal department of the organisation a few months earlier.
In her free time she likes to read and travel.
MARINE
Amalia Alberini: marine officer
Amalia was born in Athens.
She studied Biology at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris IV, France and marine and coastal environmental management at the Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University in the United States.
Amalia has been working at WWF Greece since 2015. She started as the communications officer for the CYCLADES LIFE project, and then undertook the coordination of the 5th International Conference of Marine Mammal Protected Areas that was held in 2019 in Greece and of other initiatives for the protection and conservation of marine biodiversity. Since 2022, Amalia is WWF Greece’s marine officer with the responsibility of leading, managing and coordinating a wide range of activities, projects and overall interventions of the marine programme.
She spends her free time by the sea and shares it with her loved ones.
Spyros Kotomatas: coordinator of the overall Gyaros conservation actions
Spyros was born in Athens.
He studied Biological Sciences (University of Illinois at Chicago), and holds a PhD in Population Ecology (University of Illinois at Chicago).
He joined the WWF Greece team in May 2013, undertaking the coordination of the European CYCLADES LIFE program. Today he is responsible for the overall coordination of the Gyaros conservation actions aiming at protecting the Gyaros Marine Protected Area.
In his free time he relaxes with friends and enjoys vacationing in Syros and other Cycladic islands.
Michalis Margaritis: field fishery manager
Michalis was born in Rhodes.
He has studied Biology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), with postgraduate studies in Hydrobiology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).
He joined the WWF Greece team in December 2017 as a Fisheries Partner.
In his free time he deals with basketball (only as a fan now), reading and nature.
Chariklia Minotou: scientific collaborator, responsible for the Zakynthos programme
Hariklia Minotou was born in 1968. Due to her studies, initially in agriculture but also her doctorate in sustainable management of protected areas, she deals with issues of organic agriculture, sustainable development, environmental protection, nutrition and environmental awareness, environment and environment. agritourism, acoustic ecology.
Since 2000 she has been working at WWF Greece, in the Zakynthos Programme for the protection of the sea turtle Caretta caretta and the management of the beach of Sekania. At the same time, she has been participating since 2000 as a representative of NGOs in the Board of Directors of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos.
Nicole Godsil: marine programme associate
Nicole was born in Athens by a British father and a Greek mother.
She studied Environmental Science at the Ionian University and holds a Master's degree in Applied Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.
She joined the WWF Greece team in 2020 as a field researcher for the project "Addressing the effects of coastal fishing on marine biodiversity in Greece". Today she is working on marine conservation with a focus on marine biodiversity.
In her free time she creates jewelry from natural and upcycled materials and enjoys cycling, hiking and excursions to nature.
Panagiota Stapa: marine programme associate
Panagiota was born in Sparti.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Applied Ecology- Ecosystem and Biological Resources Management from the University of Patras.
She joined the WWF Greece team in 2020 as a field researcher for the project "Addressing the effects of coastal fishing on marine biodiversity in Greece". Today she is working on marine conservation with a focus on fisheries.
In her free time, she has traditional folk dancing lessons and cooks.
Ioannis Prevedouros: coordinator of Syros/Gyaros local conservation actions
Giannis was born in Patra and gcard up in Karpenisi.
He studied Geology at University of Patras (Geology Department), with postgraduate studies in Environmental Sciences in the School of Natural Sciences (University of Patras). He has also been extensively involved in adult environmental education activities, related to waste management.
He joined WWF Hellas team in July 2023 as Coordinator of Syros/Gyaros local conservation actions.
In his spare time, he enjoys nature trips, relaxing with friends, gaming, music, diving and winter sports.
Apostolis Zamplakos: Gyaros field activities technical aspects associate
Apostolis was born in Syros.
He has studied graphic design (AKTO ART & DESIGN) and is also involved in video and editing. He is a certified scuba diver, offshore lifeguard, speedboat pilot, sailor and SmieA pilot.
He joined the WWF Greece team in August 2018 as a field technician of the maritime program.
In his free time he enjoys water and mountain sports.
Vasiliki Denaxa: local awareness and engagement activities associate
Vassiliki was born in Syros.
She comes from a family of professional fishermen. She has studied Ichthyology (TEI of Epirus) with postgraduate studies in Waste Management (EAP). She is a certified scuba diver, sailor, speedboat pilot and SMEA.
She joined the WWF Greece team in April 2018 as a field technician of the maritime program.
In her free time she enjoys group outdoor and marine recreational activities, while she considers travel an investment of life.
Vangelis Paravas: project manager of the "Mediterranean Blue Forests" project
Vangelis Paravas was born in Athens.
He is a trained biologist with long professional experience in the conservation of marine mammals and habitats, in managing small scale fisheries and in the design and management of Marine Protected Areas.
As an external expert he is the coordinator of the "Mediterranean Blue Forests", a Mediterranean programme for the conservation and restoration of threatened Posidonia meadows in important areas in the Cyclades and at the national level.
TERRESTRIAL
Nicos Georgiadis: terrestrial programme coordinator
Nicos was born in Athens.
He is a forester with a PhD in forest management and certification systems from the University of Wales (UWB). He has worked as an independent scholar, as a scientific consultant for environmental and educational organizations but also for private companies, while maintained for some years a cooperative enterprise of production and marketing of quality traditional agricultural products. In his first working period at WWF Greece, from 2003-2013, he worked as a Head of forest program and as a scientific consultant in the “conservation of the Greek island wetlands” program. Nicos started his second period of collaboration with WWF Greece in 2022 as a Forest Management Officer, while from July 2023 he took over the Terrestrial Programme with the responsibility of leading, managing and coordinating a wide range of activities, projects and overall interventions of the Programme.
He spends his free time with his family, while he likes to cook, hike and ride a bike.
Thanos Giannakakis: coordinator of actions for nature based solutions
Thanos was born in Athens.
He studied Environmental Sciences (Department of Environment, University of the Aegean) with postgraduate studies in land ecosystem management (Department of Biology, University of Crete) and water resources science and technology (NTUA).
In March 2008 he joined the WWF Greece team as a Field Researcher and since 2011 as a Coordinator in the program "Protection of the island wetlands of Greece", while in the period 2017-2020 he was the Head of the program "Protection of the island wetlands of the Mediterranean", coordinating 13 partners from 9 Mediterranean countries. Today he is responsible for the development of the Nature-based Solutions initiative (solutions based on nature and natural processes) of WWF Greece.
In his free time he deals with his two sons, photography, running, mountaineering skiing and in general with everything that has to do with the mountains.
Giannis Alexiou: nature-based solutions associate
Giannis was born in Athens.
He studied agriculture (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), with postgraduate studies in ecology and biodiversity management (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens).
He joined WWF Greece in October 2023 as a Nature-based solutions associate.
In his free time, he likes to travel and practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Elias Tziritis: coordinator of actions for forest fires
Elias was born in Kalavrita.
He studied Political Science and International Studies (Panteion University), with postgraduate studies in Environmental Policy and Management (University of the Aegean).
He joined the WWF Greece team in the summer of 1995, as a volunteer in Dadia National Park and since November 2004 as an employee.
In his free time he hikes with his son, bikes and prevent forest fires as an active Civil Protection volunteer forest firefighter.
Natalia Kalevra: geoinformatics associate
Natalia was born in Athens.
She studied Forestry, Environmental Management and Natural Resources (Democritus University), with postgraduate studies in Geoinformatics (National Technical University of Athens)
She joined the WWF Greece team in January 2008 as an Associate of the Scientific Documentation Sector. Today she is an Associate of the Terrestrial Programme, coordinating a series of projects, while assisting the overall environmental protection programmes in cartographic support (Geographic Information Systems).
In her free time she has fun with her family and friends, does dance exercises and "Do-It-Yourself" decorative constructions for her house.
Antonis Douros: forest program partner
He studies Health, leisure & organization – management.
At the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science of the University of Thessaly.
He joined the WWF Hellas team in May 2022 as project partner for the program “empowerment of volunteer firefighting teams 2022-24”. He has been an active volunteer firefighter-instructor since 1998, serving at a Forest Service team in Athens and at the Hellenic Fire Department.
In his free time he reads, watches classical movies at summer cinemas in the Pangrati district of Athens, cooks for friends and at the first sight of snowfall he takes his skis and disappears in the mountains.
Giorgos Athanasakis: terrestrial programme associate
Giorgos Athanasakis was born in Athens.
He is a Forester Environmentalist with experience in Remote Sensing and Fire Ecology. He holds two master’s degrees, in Natural Resources, Geo-Environment and Applications of New Technologies with a specialization in Geospatial Data and Earth Observation Satellite Systems from the Agricultural University of Athens as well as in Ecology & Biodiversity Management with a specialization in the Post-Fire Regeneration of Thermo-Mediterranean Ecosystems from the Department of Biology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
As an external partner of WWF Greece, it has undertaken the support of the terrestrial program in Satellite Remote Sensing activities and mainly in the post-fire mapping and prioritization of natural areas.
In his free time, he likes to do sports. He likes to watch movies in the cinema and travel.
LIFESTYLE FOOTPRINT REDUCTION
Achilles Plitharas: footprint manager
Achilles was born in Trikala.
He studied Environmental Sciences at the University of the Aegean and holds a master's degree in Environmental and Energy Management Systems.
He joined the WWF Greece team in April 2004 as Head of the Detox campaign to control hazardous chemicals. Today he is in charge of programs to reduce the environmental footprint of our lifestyle.
In his little free time he studies historical sources about the evolution of Greece and the world after the industrial revolution.
Konstantinos Tsoukalas: plastics and waste officer
Konstantinos was born in Karpenisi.
He studied Civil Engineering at the University of Athens, with postgraduate studies in "Environmental, Ecological Engineering" (University of the Aegean) and in "Environmental Infrastructure Design" (Hellenic Open University).
He joined the WWF Greece team in March 2017 as Head of Local Actions.
In his free time he travels, is engaged in climbing, hiking, rafting, canyons and music.
Alexandros Moulopoulos: net zero coordinator
Alexandros joined the WWF team in 2022 taking the lead of the climate and energy sector. Leveraging his knowledge and experience in climate policy and corporate sustainability, he assumed the role of Net Zero Coordinator in August 2024 with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint of businesses in Greece.
He was born in Athens and studied Chemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds a MSc degree in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University in the Netherlands with a specialization in energy and natural resources.
In his free time, he likes to study as much as he can, spend time with loved ones and practice brazilian jiu-jitsu and other sports.
Rossie Simeonova: waste management associate
Rossie was born in Bulgaria and came to Greece to study.
She studied at the Department of Environmental Engineering (Technical University of Crete), with postgraduate studies in Investment Project Management (Higher Polytechnic School L. Karavelov, Sofia).
She joined the WWF team in September 2023 as a Waste Management Associate.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, painting and her family.
ENVIROMENTAL EDUCATION
Eleni Svoronou: head of environmental education
Eleni was born in Athens.
She studied History and Archeology at the School of Philosophy (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) with postgraduate studies in Cultural Heritage Management (University of Birmingham).
She joined the WWF Greece team in 1994 as Project Manager. Today she is in charge of Environmental Education.
In her spare time she writes books for children and young people and teaches creative writing.
Nancy Koutava: environmental education partner
Nancy Koutava was born in Athens.
She studied Chemistry at the University of Athens (EKPA).
She joined the WWF Greece team in August 1997 as Personnel Manager. Today she is the Coordinator of the Educational Programs in Schools.
In her free time she engages in seminars of alternative pedagogy, botany and physical exercise.
Marina Symvoulidou: environmental education associate
Marina was born in Athens.
She studied civil engineering with postgraduate studies in environment and energy conservation as well as tourism and protected landscape management.
She joined the WWF team in 1999 as a partner of the Forest Program. Today she is an environmental education associate.
In her free time she raises her son and their four-legged family, attends cultural events for youth and adults, reads and travels.
Sofia Axonidi: project manager Eat4Change
Sofia was born in Athens.
She has studied Library Science & Information Systems in Thessaloniki, with postgraduate studies in Digital Data Management (at the University of Oslo).
She joined the WWF Greece team in January 2016 as WWF GreenSpaces coordinator. Today she is the project manager of Eat4Change program, which focused on the improving the nutrition choices of youth for their health and the planet.
In her free time she travels, goes to theater and walks in the sea.
The Performance and Program management department was recently set up to systematize efforts to keep WWF an organization that is clearly aware of its mission, constantly learning by evaluating results to improve its performance and being able to plan highly effective interventions.
Our tools to stay effective are:
- The shaping and promotion of the changes we bring through our action (Impact report)
- Monitoring and evaluating efficiency in all WWF operations, based on data and critical parameters / indicators.
- The development of the means to stay alive and to utilize the accumulated knowledge.
- Monitoring the implementation of the environmental program and collaborative approach to opportunities and challenges.
Natasha Marangou: head of performance and programme management
Natasa Marangou trained in accounting and then in financial management and project management. She also has a degree in European Culture from the Hellenic Open University.
She started working for WWF Greece in 1994 as a proud member of the Dadia program team for the financial monitoring of the Dadia program. Since 1998 she participates in the financial and technical monitoring of the environmental program. Today she is the head of the Performance and Program management department whose mission is to keep WWF Greece an organization with high performance and efficiency.
She is married and has two children. In her spare time she returns to the study of the history and evolution of European culture
Pantelis Sarris: planning and performance senior analyst
Pantelis was born in Athens.
He has studied Economics at the University of Piraeus, with postgraduate studies in Applied Economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business.
He joined the WWF Greece team in June 2010 as a Program Financial Assistant. Today he is in charge of Financial Management of the Program.
In his free time he reads whatever he finds in front of him, plays basketball and cooks Akis' recipes.
Katerina Alyssandraki-Kolita: reporting analyst
Katerina was born in Athens.
She studied Economics (University of Piraeus), with postgraduate studies in Economic & Business Strategy (University of Piraeus).
She joined the WWF Greece team in May 2015 as a financial management partner.
In her free time she travels and attends Greek traditional dance classes.
Anneza Georgopoulou: programme monitoring and evaluation officer
Anneza was born in Athens.
She hols a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management and Technology (University of Piraeus), with postgraduate studies in (MSc) Energy and Environmental Managemen t(National Technical University of Athens).
She joined the WWF Greece team in March 2018 as a programme monitoring officer.
In her free time she likes to both in Greece and abroad, enjoys to read books and watcing movies to the cinema.

Christos Rodopoulos: Head of Financial and Administration (Finance Manager)
Christos was born in Thebes.
He studied Economics at the University of Macedonia.
He joined the WWF Greece team in November 2014 as Head of Financial & Administrative Services (CFO).
In his free time he is involved in swimming and fishing, playing basketball and listening to music.
Fotis Paraskevopoulos: financial analysis and Data protection officer (DPO)
Fotis was born in Athens.
He has studied Business Administration & Management and holds an MBA and a MSc in Applied Economics and Finance.
He joined the WWF Greece team in January 2014 as a Financial Management Assistant. Today he is in charge of Finance & Operations.
In his spare time he travels, discovers new music and plays basketball.
Maria Mouka: accounting officer
Maria was born in 1975 in Athens. She studied at the TEI of Athens at the School of Economics and Management in the Department of Business Administration.
After that she attended an annual distance learning program in accounting at the University of Athens. She has worked as an assistant accountant for 15 years in a commercial company in Vrilissia and has also worked as a freelancer at the same time with her 15 years of experience as an employee.
In 2011 she started working at the WWF as an assistant accountant. Today she has the position of Head of accounting.
Antonia Arapoglou: data admin officer
Antonia was born in Lesvos.
She studied secretary in Thessaloniki and Cambridge.
She joined the WWF Greece team in April 1993 as host secretary. Today she is responsible for data management in the financial department.
In her free time she attends theater and cinema.
Aris Georgiou: CPA tax technician of financial services
Aris has studied accounting and holds a first-class professional license from the Economic Chamber of Greece.
He is an accountant / tax technician with over 20 years of experience in companies such as PwC and Sol / Crowe as well as many accounting offices. He is specialized in accounting, tax, and internal control matters.
He started working at WWF Greece in November 2023. In the organization he is responsible for general accounting, Greek Accounting Standards, and tax matters.
He is married, has two daughters, and likes reading, music and walking.
Vassilis was born in Athens.
He has studied Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus.
He joined the team of WWF Greece in May 2018 as Assistant IT Manager.
In his spare time he plays football, board and electronic role-playing games and goes to summer cinemas.
Dena Argyropoulou: head office secretary
Dena was born in Sacramento, California.
She studied Graphic Design at CSU, Sacramento.
She joined WWF Greece in October, 2023 as head office secretary.
During her free time she is a speaker manager and head of podcasts for TEDxAthens, she travels, meditates and loves food. You’ll also find her walking around the city of Nafplio, where she’s from.
Alexandros : building management manager
Alexander was born in Athens.
He joined the WWF Greece team in September 2022 as building management manager.
In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, photography and spending time with his son.
The development department contributes to the effectiveness of WWF Greece' work, supporting the development and financing of the organization's projects and actions. It also manages relationships with donors, donors and supporters of the organization based on collaboration, interaction and transparency in resource use.
Konstantinos Liarikos: head of development department
Konstantinos Liarikos is an economist with postgraduate studies in development and the environment.
He has worked in both the private sector and in research and education and has coordinated and / or participated in the preparation of a large number of papers and scientific notifications.
Since 2002 he has been working at WWF Greece, where for many years he was the head of the environmental program. Today he is head of the development department. He is married, has a son and in his free time he is involved in music and artistic constructions.
Vicky Stavraka: loyalty officer
Vicky was born in Preveza.
She studied International Economic Relations (Democritus University), with postgraduate studies in Marketing Management (University of Barcelona).
She joined the WWF Greece team in September 2018 as Distinguished Friends Officer.
In her free time she dances, plays the accordion and hides in theaters.

Alexander was born in Toronto, Canada.
He studied Statistics at the Athens University of Economics.
He joined the WWF Greece team in September 2003 as a database manager. Today he is Head of Supporters.
In his free time he reads, watches movies and waits for the time to eat.
Ioanna Stratou: officer of database of supporters
Ioanna was born in Athens.
She studied secretarial support and Marketing.
She joined the WWF Greece team in April 1998 as Reception Secretary. Today she is the Head of the Supporter Database
In her free time she is involved in gymnastics, cooking and reading.
Dimitris Kousoulas: digital marketing officer
Dimitris was born in Tripoli.
He studied Building Reconstruction and Journalism but for the past 10 years he works as a Marketing Specialist.
He joined the WWF Greece team in March 2022 as a Digital Marketing Officer.
In his free time he reads, listens to the music, watching films and enjoys quality food.
Katerina Tsesmetzi: programme funding officer
Katerina pursued Theatre Studies at the Kapodistrian University and obtained a Master's Degree in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy at Goldsmiths University of London. In recent years, she has been actively involved in program development and fundraising.
She joined the WWF Greece team in 2024 as Programme Funding Officer.
In her free time, she loves to escape to nature, enjoy cultural events and set up cozy gatherings to reconnect with her favorite people.

Antonis Koutsoukos: head of communications and engagement
Antonis Koutsoukos, Head of Communications and Engagement
Antonis was born in Salamina,
He holds a BSc in Journalism and Mass Communications from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki and an Msc in Media Management from Stirling University, Scotland. He has worked in digital marketing agencies and in Communications and Sustainability roles in multinational companies.
He joined WWF Greece in January 2024 as Head of Communications and Engagement.
In his free time is either attending theatrical plays or packing his bags for an upcoming trip.
Christi Sotiriou: head of press and public relations office
Christi was born in Athens.
She studied Political Science & Dim. Administration (University of Athens), with postgraduate studies in International & European Relations (Sorbonne University)
She joined the WWF team in November 2016 as head of the Fish Forward program and head of environmental program communications. Today she is head of press and public relations office.
In her free time he runs in the green areas of Athens.
Sophia Koukoulaki: key communication lead
Sophia was born in Athens.
She studied Surveying Engineering (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), with postgraduate studies and professional training in Business Administration (Chartered Institute of Marketing, IMD, INSEAD).
She joined the WWF Greece team in February 2011 as Corporate Partnership Manager. Today she is the Program Funding Officer.
In her free time she takes care of her family, her dog, goes to the cinema and travels.
Natasa Mastorakou: biodiversity communication officer
Natasha was born in Patisia.
She studied Sociology with postgraduate studies in Political Communication and New Technologies.
In February 2022 he joined the WWF team as a Biodiversity Communication Officer, but has been close to the Organization for many years.
In her free time, she goes to concerts, plays the piano and lots of board games with her children.
Aris Chatzinikolaou: engagement officer
Aris grew up in Thessaloniki and holds a BA in Economics (UoM) and an MSc in Regional and Urban Planning Studies (LSE). From 2010-2022 he was the manager of UoM’s Environmental Office and also participated in numerous European Programs.
In 2022 he joined the WWF team working on citizens’ engagement and volunteering development.
He is a founding member and active participant in many non-profit environmental and social initiatives and cooperatives and in his free time he tries to be on a mountain or near the sea.
Sissy Gkournelou: marine communications associate
Sissy Gkournelou was born in Athens and grew up in Kypseli. She pursued her studies in Sociology and holds a master’s degree in Journalism.
She dedicated a decade working in the media industry and transitioned to a career in communications for non-governmental organizations in 2016.
Her journey with WWF Greece began in 2023 when she took on the role of Marine Communications Associate. She loves photography, reading and traveling.
Dimitris Chatoglou: program communication associate
Dimitris was born in Athens.
He has studied Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Athens and has a postgraduate degree in Political Communication from the University of Glasgow. In the past he has worked in communication for non-profit and international organizations.
He became a member of the WWF Greece team in July 2024 as a Program Communication Associate.
In his free time, Dimitris listen to a lot of music, plays the bass, enjoys playing video games and is always in the kitchen cooking something good.
Marios Vontas: publication officer
Marios was born in Egaleo, Attica.
He has studied Desktop Publishing design in a private I.E.K.
He joined the WWF Greece team in July 1995 as a foreign affairs officer.
In his free time he is involved in cycling, illustration, cartoon and photography.
Vassilis Kokkinidis: web designer / front-end developer
Vassilis was born in Athens.
He has studied interactive digital media, in the past he has worked in the field of advertising and as a freelance web / graphic designer.
He joined the WWF Greece team in April 2007 as a web designer and is responsible for the organization's website and the production of digital content.
In his free time, he tries to have a good time.
